Fahmida Sheuly, a future Doctor of Educational Leadership

Fahmida Sheuly is a Miami-based educator and doctoral candidate at Lynn University, researching educational leadership with a focus on improving teacher support in K-12 education. She currently teaches math at a Title I IB school, where she is passionate about serving a diverse community of scholars.

Previously, Fahmida was an award-winning educator in New York City, receiving the United Federation of Teachers (UFT) Team High School “Excellence in Education” award and recognition as a “highly qualified” teacher. Her expertise spans multi-disciplinary STE(A)M project-based learning, supporting special populations, and leading collaborative teaching initiatives in both at-risk and high performing schools.

Fahmida began her teaching career in Southern California after earning her Master of Education in Special Education from the University of San Diego on a scholarship. Her graduate studies focused on Autism, English Learners, and project-based mathematics education, with hands-on experience at the innovative and modern High Tech High School and Correia Middle School. She also pursued leadership studies at the College of Saint Rose and Queens College and holds a bachelor’s degree from Stony Brook University, where she studied life sciences and international studies. Inspired by a transformative study abroad experience in India, she chose to dedicate her career to education.

Beyond the classroom, Fahmida is committed to teacher training and support. She has organized professional development events across multiple states and in her birthplace of Bangladesh. During the pandemic, she expanded her impact by founding companies, including a nonprofit organization, while creating community initiatives, fundraisers, and coaching programs for educators and first responders.

A firm believer in financial independence, Fahmida has been a property owner and investor since her twenties. She advocates for educators to pursue financial stability by leveraging the resources available to them. Through mentorship and advocacy, she works to shift public perceptions of teaching, encouraging young professionals to see education as a fulfilling and sustainable career.

In her free time, Fahmida is a professional strength-training athlete (a professional natural bodybuilder who is the first to earn this title as a Bangladeshi-born in the USA and the first Bangladeshi-born woman to ever become a bodybuilder, and also to be winning championships), technical diver, and environmental volunteer. Passionate about marine conservation, she participates in reef-cleaning efforts and supports organizations like BigBlue and Plastic Free Cities. She is also getting ready to publish her first book in Summer 2025.
